Dorf 30 (the 30th house in the village!) is known to be at least 200 years old, and it is probably much older. It was originally a working farmhouse in the very traditional Tirolean style and was extensively converted and re-modelled in the 1970’s. It is now in a programme of sympathetic updating and refurbishment that started in 2001.
Click on the link below for floor plans and above for pictures. NB: THE PLANS ARE NOT TO SCALE! You will find that room sizes generally are quite generous and the bedrooms are about 4.5M square. The 2nd floor sleeping areas are about 4M by 2M.
At the moment the accommodation comprises the following:
Ground Floor
A large entrance hall
fully equipped kitchen/dining room
sitting room (makes a comfortable double bedroom using the sofabed) with TV, DVD, video and cable;
double bedroom
family bathroom
ski & kit storage room
There are staircases to the first floor and the basement (laundry and one day a games room)
We have a couple of extra rooms as well, planned to become a bathroom and sauna, but currently used as handy storage areas with an extra “grog fridge” and a freezer.
First Floor
The first floor is exclusively old wood and is surrounded outside by a wrap-around balcony accessed from a door on the large landing.
There are two spacious comfortable bedrooms, one double and one twin (with a sink) that can also be made up as a double if required. Both bedrooms have large fitted rustic style wardrobes.
There is a separate toilet and a shower room.
Staircase to second floor.
Second Floor
The second floor was our first major project and has proved really successful. There are four single beds in semi-private “rooms”. These are absolutely ideal for kids.
Each room has a bed, bedside unit, lighting and power. The bed areas are all under the eaves so have slightly restricted head height, however the central area has full height and reasonable floor space. There is a door to the second floor balcony.
Flat 1
This is our newly renovated apartment that is available for rent during the ski season. It is rented to locals for the rest of the year.
Flat 2
Tell me more about the house
Our house is available to let by the week all year round. Going is an excellent base for skiing in the winter and in the summer activities include golf, walking, climbing, cycling, mountain biking, swimming, paragliding, horse riding and touring around the area.
For those who like a particularly quiet and tranquil break, spring and late autumn are still delightful in the mountains.
The rental week runs from Friday to Friday. We ask all outgoing guests to vacate by 11:00am and incoming guests not to plan for arrival at the house before about 3:00pm. This is a general guide but alternative arrangements can be made.
Shorter breaks and long weekends can sometimes be booked in the periods between the ski season and the summer season.
Generally the Going & Ellmau ski season starts on or around the 20th December and lasts until the end of March. There are some ski areas within easy reach of Going that have slightly longer ski seasons, the closest are Scheffau and Kitzbuhel (with the Hannenkahm, home of the famous Downhill Race), which usually stay open until the end of April.
The summer season generally starts in May and weather can be fabulous right through to the end of October.
